Citizens of Kingsport: contact your state representatives and demand change. Hopefully in two years, a mayor candidate will run for office who cares for the poor and the middle class people of Kingsport who are struggling with bills and hardships. Also find out where your aldermen stands on the issues.

I hate having to give them any stars but cant post without a star. Any Law enforcement officer who attacks a woman who was at her grandmothers house for 4 hours before being told she has 45 seconds to vacate the premises, When it was not the grandmother who called? Then arrests her saying that she assaulted an officer when all she was doing was showing him her shoes were tied together (as per the Grandmother) needs to be reprimanded.

Fast response, thank you ---so much!

This is not the city for freedom loving people to live in anymore. I would turn in my badge before I would target poor people and people going through hardships and before I would worry about how many vehicles are in someone's driveway and whether they all will start or not. It's none of your business if they will start! Go after real criminals and leave decent people alone.

Don't hesitate to make wellness calls, do so right away, things could have easily been different in this instance. And the Kingsport police did their job and did it very well. Again Thank You Very Much!

I would like to end by saying that I do support the men and women of law enforcement who put their life on the line. My dad was a law enforcement officer for over 30 years. He would have never agreed with this type of policing. My son is a federal law enforcement officer and I assure you that towing vehicles for not having auto insurance is not his idea of getting "criminals" off the street. Most of these people are not criminals, they are just having tough times at the moment. Some have to decide whether to buy groceries or buy insurance. Would you buy insurance or feed your family?

This big government rhetoric must stop! It's time for the citizens of Kingsport to speak with their votes. The current mayor and aldermen apparently thinks this kind of policing is fine. It isn't. Several republican and democrat lawmakers voted against the new law that went into effect that allows the police, "at their discretion", to fine and tow vehicles without auto insurance.

Was in town this morning from out of state, and paying more attention to my GPS than the road signs, I found myself speeding through a school zone (not much, just a little over) and quickly found myself being pulled over. Having out of state tags, I thought I was in for a hefty fine. The officer approached my vehicle in a very calm and polite manner, and proceeded to let me know I was speeding in a school zone AND had a brake light out. I already had all my papers ready for him, and the whole stop went smoothly. He was extremely professional and kind. He gave me a warning and didn't even write me a fix it ticket because he didn't want to have to hold me up on my travels, which was exceptionally kind of him. Just goes to show that if you handle the situation like an adult, don't try to lie your way out of it and treat the men and women who are there to protect you and others with a little respect, it goes a long way. I'll have my brake light fixed before I leave town for sure, and am highly impressed with the officer and his interaction with me this morning. I'm considering a move to the area, hence my visit and I will definitely put this on the list of reasons to move! Never been so happy after a traffic stop in my life. Way to be super awesome and understanding Kingsport PD!

Just as people are against a government mandate for health insurance, they are also against a mandate on auto insurance.

It's the taxpayers who are paying your salaries, buying your cars, your clothes, and everything else for your job that is paid for by the government.

I was speaking to my daughter (I'm posting on the computer where my son is signed in bty) on her free Obama phone and it went dead, right in the middle of the most important phone conversation ever! Her children heard a noise, on a Sunday, no one else around. Perfect time for something to happen. I don't believe in things being just a coincidence, I feared for her life. So I called and they dispatched two officers, she was found safe and unharmed thank goodness! The deputy called me right away to assure me she was safe.

New Hampshire does not require drivers in their state to purchase auto insurance. Guess what? There's not a crisis up there. They are doing just fine without more big government.

Pulled over for speeding when literally every car was going faster than me. Must be out of state plates?

Kingsport Police Department is becoming a legalized mob. People supported Trump because they are sick of big government. The people of Kingsport are tired of being targeted for not having auto insurance. People are struggling financially due to Obamacare and other government decisions and what do you do to struggling people? You oppress them more! You are oppressing the poor and the struggling middle class by fining them for things they can't afford and then you tow their vehicles!

The problem we have is the politicians want the police to do their dirty work for them. The City of Kingsport also uses the police to enforce city codes for petty things such as someone having a flat tire in their driveway or their trash can left out for a day. I know someone who went through plenty of harassment by the police over petty things.
